U.S. Healthcare Professionals and Entities

Amgen’s mission is to serve patients. To achieve this, Amgen collaborates with healthcare professionals to seek their expertise, better understand patient needs, deliver quality health education, and to conduct clinical trials – all of which are essential to bring innovative medicines from the lab to patients.

Amgen reports payments and transfers of value made to U.S. healthcare professionals and entities to government agencies requiring such disclosures, pursuant to applicable U.S. laws, regulations and related obligations.

As of January 1, 2013, Amgen began tracking direct and indirect payments and transfers of value made to U.S. licensed physicians. The reported transfers of value include but are not limited to:

  • Consulting fees
  • Non-consulting fees, including speaker fees
  • Food
  • Travel
  • Educational items

The reportable party names listed in the report are based on IQVIA (formerly IMS) Healthcare Provider Universe. In addition, certain payments and transfers of value will be included in later quarters due to delayed reconciliation or receipt of the data.

Research Disclosures

As of July 2013, Amgen began tracking payments and transfers of value to U.S. licensed physicians for research-related activities associated with a U.S. marketed product. The report includes:

  • Name of entity or research institute that received payment or transfer of value
  • Amount of research payment
  • Study Number
  • Principal Investigators – Licensed U.S. Physicians
    (Includes Name, Primary Business City and State)

The Principal Investigator (PI) names listed in these reports are based on IQVIA (formerly IMS) Healthcare Provider Universe. Certain payments and transfers of value will be included in later quarters due to delayed reconciliation or receipt of the data.

In addition, Amgen submits General Payment and Research Payment Reports to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Affordable Care Act. This report reflects all direct and indirect payments between Amgen and U.S. licensed physicians and teaching hospitals, including payments made in support of ongoing research. Amgen supports full disclosure of this information and is committed to sharing information with those who have an interest in our business practices.

Amgen also discloses Independent Medical Education and Healthcare Donations, as well as Amgen Foundation Grants on our website on a quarterly basis.
